Question- WHAT DOES VEGAN MEAN?
Answer- I DO NOT CONSUME ANYTHING THAT COMES FROM AN ANIMAL.
One day, I woke up and I realized…WOW, an animal doesn’t have to die OR suffer for me to LIVE! (AND EAT AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS NUTRITIOUS FOOD) *DROOLS*
I live a beautiful, energetic life. And many meat eaters do too! But it brings me pride to know that I can be this filled with life and love without another being’s blood on my hands.
That I’m not drinking milk that was created for the bonding and food between a baby calf and it’s mother, That whatever is on my plate was not slaughtered, beatened or suffocated.
Yes, the truth I live by is that God gave us dominion over what is living on this Earth. But that does not make me feel superior. It makes me feel trusted to do a good job with what God has created. For example, I don’t think eating a chicken is “wrong”, I think contributing to the horrific process in which it takes to get on your plate is. This whole food industry thang has gotten out of CONTROL. Mainly because we are allowing ourselves to BE controlled. The mass production of animals and animal by-products (and GMOs, too!) has become a nightmare. Things are not the way they used to be. We are a country who likes things quick and easy. We have someone get the animal, feed the animal, kill the animal, package the animal and deliver it to us straight to our local grocery store or restaurant. Where is OUR control in that? I know that these things are put into place to make our lives easier. I get that. But I don’t trust WHO is doing it for us. That’s the difference. If you live on a farm and you have a grandmother who raises healthy and loved chickens…that is a different story. But the majority of us rely on our food industry because we think we have to. We don’t! You know we are just paying people to do dirty work. No, the work is worse than dirty…It is EXPLOITATION of innocent animals and really shows me how backwards we have gone as a human race.
So…how are we still allowing all of this to happen the way it is? Because we are still buying it. If you’re gonna eat meat, wouldn’t you like to know what’s in it, where it was from, any possible diseases, etc.? There’s just too many questions I’d have if a grilled lamb chop was on my plate. Veggies make it simple for me.
I wish we lived in a place where our COMPASSION for animals (other than house pets!) was the same as our compassion for other humans.
I do believe that we are all ONE. We are ALL here for EACH OTHER. (ALL meaning every living thing and being) If we all would just take care of ourselves and each other, if we were more thankful for the food we have (vegan or not) and the lives that sacrificed for us, how much greater would this world we live in be?
I read something and couldn’t agree with it even more:
“When God gave humanity dominion over the animals, it was in order to care for, tend to, and use those animals to their fullest potential in a just manner. At the time that God gave mankind dominion over the animals, humans did not eat meat (Genesis 1:29). Eating meat did not begin until after the Flood (Genesis 9:1-3), and it was at that time that animals started to fear humans. However, although God changed the way we interact with animals, in that they are now “meat,” we still bear a responsibility to care for or treat animals humanely. Human “rule” over animals does not mean we have the right to mistreat or misuse those animals.”
The only way I know how to stop from supporting this heartbreaking industry, is to abstain from buying and eating it.
Genesis 1:30 says:
“And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food.”
Genesis 9:3 says:
“Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.”
1 Corinthians 6:19 says:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”
Take care of yourselves. Let’s think before we buy. Not just about our own desires…but about the life (whether plant or animal) that gave it’s own for you to be happy and fulfilled in that moment.
